PASSIONATE ABOUT TEACHING

Our volunteer teachers come from all walks of life, but they share one thing: a passion for helping others learn.

The San Gabriel Valley Literacy Council is
an all-volunteer organization. Our English and citizenship classes are led by a dedicated team of teachers and assistants. We work with adult students who come from all over the world.

Previous teaching experience is not required. We provide all our volunteers with comprehensive training that includes:

Principles of ESL/EFL instruction
Introduction to textbooks and exercises
Tips and techniques
Basics of online instruction
Mentoring and support from current teachers

Following the training sessions, new volunteers may lead classes that fit as much as possible their personal schedules while meeting the needs of our students
